Not able to check IsOwner while offline access IRM protected document

While offline access an IRM Protected document, I need to check the ownership of the document. When the function - irmCheckContentAccOwnership is called, return status is IRM_S_UNKNOWN_CONTENT_OWNERSHIP 21023.

Is there anyway to indicate the owner during offline access?

We dont provide a mechanism to retrieve owner information while you are offline. We never had this functionality in our product. We are curious to find understand your use case. How will you use the owner information. Please note this is not a bug. This is a WAD. Any changes will need to be tackled as a feature enhancement in the SDK.

If we do not have the ability to retrieve owner information during offline access, how do we know if we can give additional access to owner during offline? Or retrict certain permissions during offline mode?

Our use case as follows:

I have a document, doc1.doc, with OFFLINE ACCESS for 1 day and PRINT permission for myself and userb.

I open doc1.doc during online, enable offline access then go offline.

I should still able to access doc1.doc and EDIT during offline as I am the document owner.

However if userb were to receive the same doc1.doc, open during online, enable offline access and open the document again during offline, userb should not be able to EDIT the document as EDIT permission is not given to this user. But as we do not know who is the document owner during offline, therefore we cannot give the EDIT (and COPY) permission to the owner during offline.

For IRM Client for MS Office, owner have EDIT, COPY, and PRINT permissions during offline for the above example, and userb only have PRINT permission.

Can we have the same feature as in IRM Client for MS Office? Thanks

Looking into the use case to make sure you are calling the right functions.

Based on the use case, this is because the irmCheckContentAccPermission() function return the permission without taking the "IsOwner" as part of consideration (for both online and offline access). So we need to check the ownership by irmCheckContentAccOwnership() and give the additional permission to owner during offline.
