how to clear dropdownlists

I have two dropdown lists. If I select an option in one first dropdownlist then the items in the second dropdownlist must be cleared. how to achieve this. I tried with clearOptions() method of dropdownlist control but it is not clearing.

Hello my friend ,

If the itmes of dropdown are contained in the JSP page , then it is quite possible that during the clearoption function call, JSP is getting refeshed and items are re-populated in the drop down again.If this is the case , remove the items from JSP and the best way to populate a drop down is in the onInit method of the behaviour class.

How do you populate your dropdowns, do you use Value Assistance ?

If yes, is it thinkable in your case to use conditional value assistance so the second dropdown values depend on the selected value of the 1st one ? in which case, the second picklist would be refreshed automatically when changing the selected value in the 1st one ?
