Hi,

I'm trying to use the Automated Test Framework to test our custom WebTop 5.3 SP5

I have installed the ATF 1.0 + the mandatory update + utf fix and I can access the Test Console (/component/testtool), but when I'd like to record a test or playback a sample test, a 404 error appears.

I've no idea to solve this problem.

Could someone help me?

so the about screen came up first and then this 404 error right?

Yes, the first screen is the about screen. Few seconds later, a redirection happens and I see the 404 screen.

In the test properties, the url textbox value is "/"

That's really weird. The servlet is defined but it cannot be accessed....

can you check if com.documentum.web.test.servlet.TestCaseDriverServlet exists under web-inf/classes?

does the server sit behind a reverse proxy that filtered out that request? what appserver are you using?

The .class TestCaseDriverServlet file exists under Web-Inf/classes

The appserver is WebSphere 9.2 MP1 and I think there is no reverse proxy

Has this websphere previously hosted older versions of webtop? I am not familiar with the websphere console but perhaps it's possible to check servlet mappings inside the console instead of through the web.xml to check that it's indeed mapped?

Hi,

I found the problem, you were right, there is a proxy behind the webtop.

So I tried to record a test case.

The first time, an error happens during the test and the webtop didn't work anymore and there wasn't errors.

I have re-installed the Webtop and try a second time

I have process the entire test but when I want to compile the .java, it doesn' work : Verify the location of your JDK (JAVA_HOME) and hit 'Compile' to try again

In fact the JAVA_HOME is set to "/usr/java5/jre" so the program try to use "/usr/java5/jre/bin/javac" but it didn't exist

The javac is here : "/usr/java5/bin/javac" so I have set the JDK location to "/usr/java5" , but I have got this error :

"/usr/java5/bin/javac": not found

Can I compile the tests without changing the JAVA_HOME ?

The test case class can be compiled outside of the ATF using a java compiler.

I've tried to compile the .java outside the webtop and now I would like to put the .class on the webtop.

The problem is that I have a classnotfound exception during the test launch.

I have put the .class at the same place than the java file (the "Recording is over" window show the directories).

I wonder if it is a package problem. I have read the user guide and developement guide and I don't understand totally how it works.

I know that test descriptors (xml) are set in the config/testcase/ directory and are loaded in the TestLauncher Tree, and each .xml file knows the java class to execute( ex: mypackage.mytest ). The .java is in the 'path' variable but its parent folder isn't the 'packagename'. I don't understand this.

Hi Jérôme,

The .class file should be located within the Web-Inf/classes in folders which match the package names.

So, if the package of Example.class is "My.Example.Package", it should be placed in Web-Inf/classes/My/Example/Package.

Okay, now it works. But I want to rename the variables name in the xml. So I change the name in this file and the call of the getVariable("my_var") in the java class. But, when i want to lanch the test, I have the error : The test case does not have a declaration for the variable 'value_0'!

But there isn't anymore variable called value_0 in the XML...

I wonder also how to complete a testcase after it was recorded. For example, I record a test and I realize that a textbox hasn't be set. How can I found the textbox id to write

Hi Jérôme,

The XML configuration files are read during application server startup and then cached. Unless the application server is restarted or the configuration service refreshed, the test framework may be running with the cached configuration resulting in the error you see. Please refresh the configuration and try again.

To additionally set a value within a textbox, you can either record a new/replacement test case where you also enter a value into the textbox during the recording process or you can programmatically add the code/steps needed. To find the control's id, look at the JSP file for the component and look for the corresponding textbox control. The name attribute will often be the id used for SetValueEvent call.

I have stopped the app server, but the XML file is still incomplete.

Hi Jérôme,

The steps I gave were for editing an existing test case class and XML. The XML file should not be edited during the recording process.

Once the "Stop Recording and Run TearDown" link is clicked, the framework should write out the rest of the test case class (JAVA) and configuration (XML). If the XML file that is written out is invalid, then it is a bug.

Can you list the steps to reproduce the incomplete XML? Does it always occur?

Hi,

The framework works on small scenario

I have this problem once I click on "Stop Recording and Run TearDown" and It always happens when I record this scenario :

- I log on with an user ( no auto-login)

- I click on the "Cabinet" tree element

- I click on the test cabinet (in the content frame)

- I click on the Tests fonctionnels folder (in the content frame)

- I validate the name of the folder "Tests fonctionnels" (in bold on top of the folder and document list)

- I click on File -> New -> Document

- I set the document name

- I select the type(word) and the template, - I click on the finish button

- The document opens in word, I put some content and I save and close it (I know ATF won't be enable to playback this but I'm evaluating some functional testing solutions on the same scenarii)

- I validate the presence of the document (validate on the document name)

- I select the document checkbox

- I click on check-in

- I click on File -> Delete

- I log-off

So when I open the .xml, and I obtain something like this :

Hi,

The scenario is fair, there've been internal tests doing the same stuff. Can you check in the tomcat server logs if there's an exception somewhere?

If you are seeing nothing special there, you may want to turn on tracing. go to your TraceProp.properties, set sessionenabledbydefault to true and the ones regarding TESTCASE, TESTSTEP and TESTRECORDER. Also make sure log4j.properties have threshold as DEBUG.

then do your recording again, and see if there's an exception in the logs. If there's something in there, send it to us.

As far as compatibility is concerned, it'll be compatible as long as the components you touched on in your current version of webtop exists in the same manner in the new version. If the component is changed, then apparently the things you did on it in the old version will no longer apply in the new version of the component. We did something back then to make marking checkboxes in the grid to still work in row selection mode but you can consider that an exception not the norm.

No, with this scenario, the .xml is always bad formed.

It's like if the file descriptor was not correctly released and the last buffer is missing.

I've asked someone to verify if we can reproduce the scenario in house, or if it's some other exceptions thrown specifically in your system that caused it.

In the meantime, can you check if you just do the part from "new document " down to "delete" does the same truncation happen?
