I have been facing a serious problem for last few days. Some DFS (Create, Checkout, GetCheckoutInfo, etc) throw this exception :

I didn't change my code (in C#) : a few days/weeks ago, everything worked.

I also tested the DFS Sample runner from the "Documentum Foundation Services(DFS) Getting Started".

It also failed ( demoRunner.TestCancelCheckout(); )

In my apllication, some DFS work (ex : IQueryService.Execute() with DQL query)

I don't understand where this could come from

Another weird behavior : when I invoke the Create method, it fails, but the Object is however created in Documentum... O_o

which version of DFS do you use? it seems that i cannot find useful info from the exception.

Repairing .Net installation didn't change anything.

I use DFS 6.5 SP1.

I'm trying to directy consume a service. But I'm not used to this.

I want to replace he following line :

DataPackage checkinPackage = versionSvc.Checkout(objIdSet, operationOptions);

I add a web reference to [Server IP]:[port]/services/core/VersionControlService?wsdl and named it VersionControlServiceRef, but I don't how to call the CheckOut method. Could you help me please ?

What I don't understand, is that my application works on one server, but doesn't on the one I usually use.

So, I think that the problem comes from the server (the one I usually use). However, I don't understand why only few services work.

The full exception trace only shows something wrong in .NET framework. The issue shouldn't be related with DFS SDK.

If you are consuming DFS by directing to WSDL, you need to add the ServiceContext header to the outbound message. You can find the sample at

As you said, the problem probably exists at the server side. So you'd better provide server log. The client error stack seemingly doesn't help much.

I uninstalled DFS on the server, and installed them again.

Now it works.

As I cleared the log yesterday morning, I don't have lots of logs

I joined them to this post.

I hope that can help (because I also want to understand )

I'm back on the project.

I'm facing the same problem ... again...

I installed DFS 6.5 SP1 : standalone (jboss 4.2.0)

My application works when I run some DFS, but some of them fail. (exactly as I said August,11th 2009 : "Create, Checkout, GetCheckoutInfo, etc")

As you can see in the files I joined with this message :

- In order to make the "create" method work, I use "operationOptions = null"

This method create a file in documentum with a content.

Even with the "opetationOptions = null", the content is transferted.....

I thought I had to specify the operationOptions in order to transfert content ?!

- Concering the "Get" method (which I use in order to get the content from an object thanks to its ID) :

I tried using "operationOptions = null", but it seems no content is return

When I keep my code as it was (just like in the file) : the inovation fails... and the file is not checked out (not locked) in documentum.

I really don't understand why some DFS fail.

But it is always linked with content (ContentTransferProfile , ContentProfile,..)

I checked jobss logs and found something (see "Error on server.txt").

This error occures both in my project and in the DFS Sample runner from the "Documentum Foundation Services(DFS) Getting Started".

The error in the logs is not linked with the DFS problem.

I stoped JBoss and ran it again. Now, there is nothing but debug message in my logs.

can you post here the inner exceptions?

the error log shows that there is class loader issue. it's not root caused by DFS. pls double check the class loader.

also, if you get errors from client, you may also get errors in log/trace files in server side. before that, you need to enable dfs/dfc tracing/logging.
