Generating html on submit
supergana
I have a requirement where I want to dynamically generate a html using a tpl and store it in a pre-determined path for the DCT. The generation process will be coded as a external task and invoked from workflow. But there are some editors who can directly submit the DCR (using submit-direct). In that case where do I generate the html. Is there an event or something of that sort where we can invoke the external task? Can I use the iwatsub for this purpose? What is the best solution for this. Any sample code would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance!!!

You *could* use iwatsub (or iwat with the appropriate event pattern string) *but* that would trigger off on *every* submit event - regardless of whether it was through a workflow or through Submit Direct - very expensive process overhead and thus generally not very desirable.
Better would be to remove the capability for Submit Direct except for Master (and possibly Administrator) roles - and thus Editors would have to work within the established processes (which are there for a reason - right?)
Less good, but potentially more politically feasible - develop and have everyone go through a customized user-training course - where you clearly spell out that if they do a Submit Direct on a DCR it will *not* be automatically generated and that if they follow-up with a manual generation, they will be responsible for making sure they choose the correct paths, names, etc. (i.e. make it sound as painful as possible to *not* follow the process)
