Global Registry Repository Question

From the Content Server Install Guide (6.5 SP1), a global registry repository is used for "installation-wide elements". Can someone please point me to more documentation/use cases for a global registry repository?

Also - we are planning to have a global registry repository that will be used for SBOs and for certain lookup tables that will be used to populate metadata on content. These lookup tables will be registered in other repositories so that the data may be available to the applications that are in those repositories via DQL/DFC/DFS.

We will also expose services (DFS or non-DFS) to enable other enterprise-wide applications to query data in these tables. These enterprise applications will not be storing/populating metadata values but will use that data for their own purposes.

Is the above a good example for a global registry repository usage?

Any links to more information on global registry repository use is highly appreciated!

Hi,

These thouhts seem viable and valid for me, Global registry should be used just as you wrote: to store SBOs which can query/manipulate the actual repository's objects.

I don't know an exact documentation on global registry, but try reading Documentum Foundation Classes Development Guide (BOF chapter) and maybe Admin guide has something on this.

This issue could be a fine new entry in the Desing pattern library...

installation wide: for example, stuff that get installed, independently of the repository your work on, such as SBO's, TBO's

Francois, I thought TBOs are installed on per repository basis. I was under the impression that BOF 2.0 will only deploy SBOs from global registry, not TBOs. In other words, TBOs have to be deployed manually through docapp or DAR.
