Blank line in XML file

I am trying to generate an XML file using templating. The generated output XML file has a blank line at the start which creates a problem.

I have tried various methods to remove the blank line but no luck. Any feedback.

try not to use iwpt_output to print out the header, but rather something like:

<iw_pt name="pt_name"><![CDATA[<your XML HEADER

Thus you will ensure no linebreaks are sneaking in
