TeamSite 5.5.1 upgrade to 5.5.2 (Solaris)
philipp
Has anyone recently upgraded TeamSite 5.5.1 to 5.5.2 on Solaris?
Is it possible to do this upgrade on a single machine (like it is on Windows)?
For various reasons we have to de-install 5.5.1 first and install 5.5.2 afterwards. Any (bad) experiences in preserving configuration files and backing store?
Thanks
Philipp

Sigh - I went through this a long time ago - and I don't remember the details any more, but I *believe* the upgrade from 5.5.1 to 5.5.2 was pretty painless ...

You really need to have two machines for the upgrade: Your source system (which contains your current, old-format backing store) and the target system (which will host the new-format version of the backing store. They must be running the same operating system (they do not need to be the same version) and be located on the same network.

Please double-check with Support (or look for other people who have done this to post) - but I believe that 5.5.1 and 5.5.2 used essentially the same backing store format (there were more optimizations and improvements in 5.5.2 - but I think the format was the same) and thus I do not believe that you need two systems for this upgrade - as it shouldn't represent a backing store conversion.
Anything earlier than 5.5.1 would require the upgrade/conversion process and generally requires two machines.

This is what I expected. We migrated 5.5.1 to 5.5.2 on a Windows Server last year using only one single machine without converting the backing store. But maybe Solaris is a different story.

Ghoti is correct. This upgrade is *very* painless. No conversion is required, no 2nd system is required. I do recommend you move to 552 SP2 (or hopefully SP3) if you go ahead with this upgrade. The steps you need to follow (assuming you are starting at 551) are:
1. Upgrade to 552. Follow the instructions in the Admin guide. Note the manual does recommend that you back up your TS home directory, in case you need to recover.
2. Install the most current Service Pack (SP). Service Packs are cumulative, so if you install SP2 you don't need to install SP1.
3. Note that if you have TFO or Content Services or TeamPortal installed you MUST install patches for these products when you install SP2 or SP3.
