dcr preview & running cold fusion script

Hi,
when i create a new dcr & preview it , the preview page has 2 buttons created by a cold fusion script : deploy to dev.database & deploy to prod. database. when i select deploy to dev.database , it has to submit the dcr to staging area and then deploy that particular dcr to dev.database from staging. i'm trying to give the perl command & the perl script name in the cold fusion file and run it but doesn't seem to work that way?
Any suggestions on how to achieve this?
