Group task not showing up in to-do windows
B80116
TeamSite 5.5.2, SP3, Windows2000
According to the Using TeamSite manual fromTeamSite Developer training, "Group tasks . . . are initially assigned to a list of people and will show up in all of their to-do windows, until one of them 'takes ownership', which assigns the task to that one person."
I am building a rudimentary workflow to which I have added a group task, but the group task is NOT showing up in any of the specified users to-do lists, nor does it show up in the to-do list of the user who takes ownership. They can see the task if they view all jobs, but unless they do that, they can't see it.
Does anyone have any ideas why the group task is not showing up in to-do list?
I have attached my .wft file for your review and amusement.
Thanks!

Hi,
Do the users in the group task have access to workarea?
Do the role files match up to users, ie did you make sure the correct domain name prefix is on the user id's in the role file?
Is the teamsite server a member server of the domain bbt-user? or is there an NT trust relationship there?
(Just thinking it may be a NT issue rather than workflow)
Can you set the debug to true and attach the debug window, that would help!
Stefan.

It might be case senstive. We do it using groups rahter than users...try it that way just for testing (it should work using the user element though)
heres what we got
<!-- =============owner="__TAG__('iw_user');"=============================================== -->
<!-- =================== Editorial Review ======================= -->
<grouptask name="Editorial Review"
description="Select 'Start Task' from 'Operation' dropdown to approve or reject work"
lock="f"
readonly="t">
__INSERT__("<areavpath v='$editor_wa'/>");
<successors>
<successorset description="Approve">
<succ v="Approve Dummy"/>
</successorset>
<successorset description="Reject">
<succ v="Add Metadata"/>
</successorset>
</successors>
<sharedby>
<group v="THESERVERNAME\Some Reviewers Group"/>
</sharedby>
</grouptask>

Thanks for the suggestions, but so far, no luck.

Can you please post the entire definition of the grouptask so that we can see how you wrote it?
Also - is this a Unix or Windows TeamSite server implementation?

You said that you are working on Windows 2000. Please check all the paths, they all seem to be UNIX based.

Never mind. It turns out the problem is that I'm a complete idiot. I'm ashamed to tell you all what the problem was. Thanks for all your help; sorry for wasting your time!

At this risk of shaming yourself - you still might want to explain what the issue was - sometimes there are other people who might make the same mistake, and you might manage to save them a day or two...

And if it was really that stupid, you could provide us all with a pretty good laugh. :-)

Ok, ok . . . I was looking for the grouptask under "View | My Jobs", when I should have been looking under "View | Current Tasks".
