FormAPI examples not working?

Hi all,

I am currently working on TS 552 on Solaris. I have enabled formapi in /etc/iw.cfg file and made a 'iwreset -ui'.

I copied the examples (e.g.: location,position,...) in my Workarea but was not able to make them work.
It seems the listener ('addItemHandler') don't catch any event.
I added several alerts in the js scripts, but they are displayed only once during the init phase, and not during the '"onItemChange"' events.

Sorry if I am not clear, just a bit lost ;-(

Hi Khalid

It sounds like you have got FormAPI running if your alerts firing. If you post (as an attachment) your datacapture.cfg (and your script file - if it is seperate) we might be able to see what is/isn't happening.

I attached the datacapture.cfg file and the js script of one of the examples I tried to use.

Actually, I have exactly the same behaviour with all the datacapture.cfg using formapi.
It seems to work the 1st time when the dcr is loaded, and then nothing happen.

The examples were all using containers.
I updated the datacapture.cfg files with only <item> tags and without any container.

It is now working fine. But I still do not understand the cause of this weird behaviour.

If anybody has an idea, I would be grateful for an answer.

I tried removing the container tags, but then the functionality doesn't work...the page loads as static.

Anyone have success with this? I also had to add the "type='content'" to the datacapture-requirements tag to get the page to load at all.

Did you eventually get the FormAPI examples to work? As far as we can tell, AddFormHandler is working but AddItemHandler is not. We are also using IE6 (but are about to test on IE5.5)

I'm not sure where they came from, but I came across two different sets of examples of the userscript category. I copied those over from the examples directory to make sure they worked, and it seems to be working fine now.

Thanks, that motivated me to look for more examples and we found an example 'shoes' that does work. The examples 'contact' 'location' 'organization' & 'position' all use containers and symbol references...and the addItemHandler doesn't appear to work. However, the 'shoes' example uses good old 'item' tags and addItemHandler seems to work great (on both IE 5.5 and 6).

I was having the same trouble until i removed the container tags from my datacapture.cfg.

containers are an important part of how we do templating here. any plan to make form api work with containers?
