Generate/Attach directly from WF

Business would like to Generate and ASttach files directly from the WF. Is there any way to do this. I know how to attach files using CLT already.. but not sure how to do the generate and attach from within the WF.

Any suggestion would be of gerat help.

Hi,

To generate you can use the iwgen CLT (found in the Templating Dev Guide) and then to attach to the WF use the Teamsite::WFtask Perl module I think. AddFile I think it is called. See the WF Dev Guide for usage or the Perldoc.

Quick note on this..

How would the script know which PT to use for the IWGEN call, (assuming the category has multiple PTs)? And what would be the output file name?

Have a look at the Templating Guide. It says that you can specify the tpl and the path to the file being generated. Page 127 of Templating Dev Guide 5.5.2 I think.

If you use a cgitask, you can essentially perform the same lookup and prompt that the main UI uses (not the same CGI script, but the same concept) - and then you can use that information to formulate the iwgen command line, run it, and then use TeamSite::WFtask's AddFile() [or AddMultipleFiles()] method to attach the generated files to the current task.

By writing your own CGI interface, you can even make it so that if there is only one PT available for a given DCR-type, you don't bother prompting for it....

I attach files in the TPL directly so the user doesn't have to do it manually. Much better approach in my opinion.

I suppose you want some code so here it is:

TPL EXAMPLE:

I didn't include all of the code, but I hope you get the idea. I put this function in my own module and call it anytime I need to attach files. The files I attach range from images in a VisualFormat field to file uploads.
