Adding a link via dct

Hi,

I am trying to create a "generic detail" data capture template (which should be a catch all for about 80% of my website). Among other things I want the user to be able to add a link.

My question is this: how to allow the user to add either a local link to a file within their workarea (using a "browse" instance) or an external link (which would need a "text" instance).

If I create a "browse" instance can it be treated like a "text" instance as well (ie. can the user enter freeform text like http://www.blah.com)?

Any suggestions?

You create a text field with an associated browser item - and you can either type into the text field or select an entry from the browser app.

I believe the example template "yacht" provides, well, an example of this.

A single browse instance should do the trick. If the user enters an http address is just gets collected like a text field. I use it for my link collection as well. You should not need 2 seperate fields.
