I went to update some older file into destination workarea with updatetask How can i overwrite the files in destination workarea directly?

You can use the overwrite="t" flag.
See the docs for more details:

Overwrite Specifies whether or not to overwrite the destination area version of
conflicting files (can be Yes or No).

Have you set the override to "t" for the submit task as well? And also set the skipconflicts="t" if you really want to just skip conflicts here.

I think someone else can chime in here with more first hand experience with the pro's and con's of the different options here.

Note that all XML, in particular the job specification language, is case-sensitive. You need to make "Overwrite" lower-case.

The attribute for updatetask's is "overwritemod", not "overwrite".
