Deploy and Run Catching error
kellyrmilligan
Our basic model is that a use kicks off a workflow, we send dcrs over to a directory, and use DNR to kick off a parser that puts the data from the dcrs into a database. What we want to do is catch if and error occurs in the script that is executed by the DNR, and see this all the way back in the external task script that called opendeploy. we are currently catching the error for a deployment(no biggy) but want to catch the real error if the DNR script has troubles.
Thanks,
Kelly

Have the script that calls the deployment pass a parameter to the deployment (-k ...) and use it within the config to pass to the DNR script. Have the DNR script use that parameter as the name of a file to log information to.
If the deployment fails - you catch it in the original externaltask script - and can then try to retrieve the information in the known-named file to retieve more detaild diagnostic information.
Of course, this plan only works if you are running the DNR on the source side. If you're running the DNR on the target side you'd have to probably run a reverse deployment to retrieve the diagnostic log file - and if that fails ...)
