Patch 1401 for OpenDeploy 5.6 supports Win2003, but not OD 5.5. You'd have to upgrade your receiver and patch it.

Thanks. Do I also need to upgrade the base server, or will it play nicely with an up-level receiver?

The Base Server has to be upgraded too.

In general, a Base Server can deploy to select down-level targets, but not the other way around. (Consult the OD Release Notes or compatibility matrix for details.)

Also, note that if you are using the OD Admin UI Server, its version must match or exceed that of the latest OD server. So if you upgrade an OD node to 5.6, then the Admin should be upgraded to 5.6 also.

One more point regarding Win2003 in particular. The Base Server and Receiver are supported on Win2003 as of OD 5.6 SP1 plus patch 1401. However, the Admin is not supported on Win2003 and would therefore have to run on a supported system (such as Win2k).
