Workflow Builder
baluge
Hi,
We are using custom workflows for deploying files to production. These workflows have .wft extension. We don't have Workflow builder installed. My doubt is if i install workflow builder, will i be able to edit these workflow templates we don't have .wfb image file for the workflow builder.

I think you can only edit workflows with WFB which were created by WFB.

I don't think so. But then workflow builder is just a marketing tool, nobody would actually use it for anything other than developing skeletons. You can also install the client without installing the server (I think).

John is correct, you can install the WFB client without installing the WFB server side component, but then you cannot upload the workflows you create to that server.
WFB is best for creating very simplistic workflows, without many external tasks.
If you are just getting started in WF, I recommend you look at the customizable workflows available with TeamSIte 5.5.2 SP 3 (it could be SP2). They allow you to modify configuration files to easily modify frequently requested Workflows.
The Workflow Developer's Guide was also updated, which outlines this is some detail. You can find that manual at:

Where can I get WorkflowBuilder? The people with the support accounts here say it is not available - is this something licensed separately? I would like to use it just for documenting workflows, not for building them.

Please see the thread in the workflow forum titled: R U Using Workflowbuilder?

WFB is sold separately as far as I know. You might want to contact support or look into your contracts.
I am not sure how WFB will help you *document* the workflows other than giving you a pretty icons for workflow tasks. I would recommend you rather use the Visio templates which are widely used in IWOV documentation. Its available on the support site. (Search for Visio tempaltes)

Yeah the icons. I think Visio is a little overkill for this, and I don't really want to license visio on this temporary PC just for this one thing.

WFB is *not* licensed separately. It is shipped as part of TeamSite, but is a separate installable. You need to install two parts, one one the server, and then the tool itself on a windows system.
If you have access to the support site you can find the 5.5 versions here:
https://support.interwoven.com/esd2/UI_ESDSelProduct.asp?PCatID=35&CatName=TeamSite
You also want to be sure to get the patches for this install. I think they are documented in the SP3 or SP2 release notes.
Numerous bugs were fixed, and the fixes were released as a patch.

I have access to the support site but choosing "downloads" gives me "We're sorry, you are not authorized to view the selected page..." and using this link gives "Sorry, We've Encountered an Error...We apologize, you've encountered an error with this page: SessionID parameter missing". I only need the client tool, I don't want to install the server components.

it sounds like the access rights for you to download are not quite right. I'd file a case with support, it's really hard to troubleshoot that from here.
Sorry this is such a hassle.
