You can change task owner and area, job and task variables, and attached file list after instantiation (although for task owner and area, the task in question must *not* be the active task).

You cannot change predecessors/successors or add/remove tasks from the workflow after instantiation.

FYI - you *can* change the task owner of an active task. I'm not sure about the area, but the ownership can be changed.

Take a look at the Set* functions available in TeamSite::WFtask - that will give you an idea of the kinds of things you can change.
