WorkSite - Introduction
sunil_j
Hi,
I am curious to know what is WorkSite?
I went through the Product Information Page on the Interwoven Public Facing Website and understands that its some way related to Document Management System?
Correct me if am wrong :
WorkSite NT
is for Microsoft ASP and Dot NET Platform and
Worksite MP
is for Java J2EE Platform?
Still I am interested in learning more about the Product ? How is it different from TeamSite? What is that it can do and TeamSite can't ? Who are the existing customers currently using WorkSite ? What is the product generally used for ?
Regards

WorkSite provides collaborative document management capability that enables an organization to set up secure workspaces for storage of all files related to a particular project, deal, legal case, etc.
All files, including email messages, tasks, calendar entries, etc. related to the project can be assigned read or read/write permissions in the workspace. The files can be checked in/out, and revisions can be tracked.
Files can be easily checking in/out from within an Office application, Outlook, or other email clients. The status of the project can be tracked. Once a document is finalized, it can be deployed to the intranet, extranet, etc. via TeamSite.
WorkSite NT runs on Windows NT only. WorkSite MP is Java-based and can run on Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
We are doing a DevNet Webcast on WorkSite MP on Wednesday, December 3. A WorkSite NT webcast will be held in January.

Hi,
I just involved with these products (worksite MP and TeamSite). I was reading your email about the differences and similarities between worksite MP and worksite NT. I am curious about couple of things. Why do you have two product lines. I had a meeting yesterday and some one mentioned that worksite MP is very immature and does not have full integration with Microsoft suite. Is it true? NT is more suitable for legal departments..Is .Worksite 8.0beta .NET based product and webservices compliant?? Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks,

WorkSite was originally designed to be used by law firms. It has many features that are law firm specific, and provides integration to a number of other products that are commonly used by law firms. It runs on Windows NT and 2000. WorkSite 8.0, the newest release, provides a number of new features that enable lawyers to work the way they are used to working, instead of having to change their way of working to fit our product.
WorkSite MP is a relatively new product that was developed to meet the needs of a broader (not legal-specific) audience. It is more customizable than WorkSite, and runs on more platforms (Windows & Unix).
An SDK is available for both WorkSite and WorkSite MP.

Hi,
I was reading your comments, and I need to know more about this phrase "The lawyer will work the way they want to work instead of the product wants from them to work the way product want". Would this product be compliant to Microsoft web services and generate XML(SOAP). Are you making any major architectural changes in new release? OR the brain would stay the same, I mean, iManage.dll, etc. Please let me know about your thought and idea......

You mention worksite 8.0 and a SDK for worksite. When will we see these?
Thanks,
Jim

I have asked someone from product management to respond to your questions re: XML & Web services.
The statement about "working the way the attorney works" refers to the ability to set up an electronic matter file that mirrors the way they organize their paper files, making it easier for them to use.
