Inactivate or resets
keith999
I have the following scenario which required two approvers to approve tasks before it goes to next task.
1. Job initator (JI) submits a job
2. Approver A approves task A in a Job
3. Approver B rejects task B in the same job
4. The job returns back to JI.
5. JI resubmits the same job
6. Approver B approves the job
7. Approver A takes no action this time.
8. The job activates task C without approver A's approval.
Problem
I expected task C will only be activated if task A and task B are both approved. When an approver rejects a task as step3 above, task A and B are set to inactivate with workflow elements "inactivate"
However, it seems that it does not work properly. Task C can still transit
to its successors even task A is inactive.
Question
1. How the "inactivate" element can reset a task status to inactive status
(not approved)?
2, If "inactivate" elements cannot reset the status, what other elements
can be used?
3. I have tried to use "Resets" elements but it doesn't work either. What is the difference between the two.

Hi,
Could you possibly post the code itself? There might be a problem with the consitancy of the successors/predecessors. Would help to debug with the WFT.
Thanks,

<inactivate> simply tells another (active) task to go inactive (without transitioning to successors).
<reset> tells another task to clear its activation data. In your case, task C knew that task A had transitioned to it (in the first review cycle). In the second review cycle, task B transitioned to task C, and (assuming task C's activation criteria was "A and B") then task C decided it was time for it to activate, as its criteria was finally satisfied.
On rejection, you want task C to be reset, so that it forgets about the approvals that happened in the previous cycle. In other words, you want the JI task to inactivate A and B, and to reset C.
