Multiple DocRoots in a Branch

Our teamsite server is configured so that a branch can contain 1 or more sites. The problem we have is with virtualization. For example, we have the following:

default/main/external_sites/WORKAREA/site1
default/main/external_sites/WORKAREA/site2

site1 and site2 are the docroots. Problem is that it appears that proxy_remap only allows for one docroot in a branch so a path /images/image.gif is meaningless.

Does anyone have any suggestions other than changing all of the paths to ../images/etc.gif?

I would suggest that you move different sites into different branches, as what you are doing is totally against Interwoven methodology. IMHO
