Well i had posted the same query before. I could manage to get the value of an item alone. But this too has an assumption that all the items before that item have to be mandatory cuz then only the item no. wud be constant. Am using the followin code
my $parser = new XML:

arser(ErrorContext => 2);
$parser->setHandlers(Char => \&char_handler);
$parser->parsefile($file);
sub char_handler {
my($expat, $element) =
@_;
$dcrvalues[$cnt] = $element;
$cnt = $cnt + 1;
}
my $folderval = $dcrvalues[4];
here am capturing the value of the 5th item. Now i also have to capture item values which are inside a container which in turn are inside a replicant. Can I get the value by referrin to the container name n then the item name? Following is structure n i want to capture the value of Document File.
<container name="Submission_Documents">
<item name="Add Files" >
<replicant min="1" max="10">
<item name="Document File">
<description>Enter your text here</description>
<text maxlength="40" required="t">
<cgi-callout label='Click to Upload File' url="/iw- bin/file_upload.cgi" window-features="width=700,height=500,resizable=no,menubar=no,toolbar=no,location=no,scrollbars=no,left=0,top=0"/>
</text>
</replicant>
</item>
</container>
I cant get it using that code straight away cuz there are a couple of non mandatory fields above this container n hence the item number wont be constant.
Any suggestions ??
thanks
mon.
