kapilsharma77
I have a custom built DMS application with me.Its COM based and has API's available. From this application, I need to publish
douments into Team Site Content Server. Here the content authors will work on these documents and publish onto the end web site. How do I achive this integration. From COM based application to Content server and vice versa???
Look forward to help.Thanks.....

Here's a couple of clarification questions:
What version of TeamSite are you running?
I assume the DMS is running on Windows (COM-based), is TeamSite also running on Windows?
The scenario you describe is pretty generic. After publishing into TeamSite, do you want a workflow run? Are you expecting users to use templates or some other editing tool?
You could potentially just copy the files out of the DMS and into the TeamSite file system. If you want to initiate a TeamSite workflow at that point, look at the iwjobc command line tool, or, if you're on 6.0, take a look at the Content Services SDK. If you want the users to use templates in TeamSite, things probably get much more complex.

Jonathon, thanks for ur response.
We are planning to use Team Site 6.0.
Both DMS as well as CMS will be on windows.
The scenario we are looking to will be as follows:
The doc will initially be in DMS.It will be worked upon and versions will be created .Finally it will be ready for publishing.
At this point wewant the integration wherein some action, say "Publish To" will pass on the reference of the document to Team Site Repository and once a content author/publisher goes to his tasks page , he should be able to see that doc there. He should be able to open the document from TeamSite, but we want that document should exist only in DMS. A copy of it need not be created in CMS Repository. Team Site should talk to my DMS which exposes COM API's for refering a document, getting its properties and opening it.
This is what we want toachive. How do we go about it.Will Team site be able to talk to DMS using DM API"s.
Also how do I make a DM document available in Team Site CMS workers inbox, once it needs to be published from DMS to TeamSite.
Also , we do want a workflow run in teamsite .
Thanks....Will look forward to your reply

There is no easy way to accomplish this statement:
"we want that document should exist only in DMS. A copy of it need not be created in CMS Repository. Team Site should talk to my DMS which exposes COM API's for refering a document, getting its properties and opening it."
TeamSite workflow expects that attached files will be in the TeamSite repository. Why are you sending the document through TeamSite if you don't ever want it to exist there? Do you simply want to use the TeamSite workflow engine? If so, there *might* be ways you can customize menus, etc. to achieve what you're trying to do, but it certainly won't look like the standard TeamSite workflow interaction.
I'm not sure what you mean by:
"how do I make a DM document available in Team Site CMS workers inbox"
Once again, all of the OOTB stuff in TeamSite assumes that the document will live in TeamSite. Is it a requirement that the document not be in TeamSite? What about a read-only copy? Then, to edit, you could write customized menu items that call your DMS repository APIs. Of course, then you have to have some way of updating the copy in TeamSite.
Like I said at the top of this post, there's no *easy* way to do this. At least not that I can think of.
Sorry I'm not more helpful,
