TS6 CCP - Creating editions?

Hmm, well after saying in another forum that I didn't think I had originated any posts, I now find myself doing so ;-)

Environment

TeamSite 6.0.0 Build 25262
Windows 2000 SP3(Within VirtualPC running on a W2K system)

Scenario

I'm logged into CCP as a Master user
I've imported a bunch of files from my local disk (I actually prefer the separate window for the Local File Manager [nee LaunchPad] but this worked fine)
I submitted all the files in the workarea using the OOTB non-modified configurable default submit workflowNow I want to publish a named edition for the branch - and I don't see how to do it...

I would have attached some images, but the size limitation for doing so on DevNet is a bit prohibitive (I can send them via personal email to anyone who really wants them) - so I'll try to describe the results in prose-format (only indicating the active or enabled options):

Don't have TeamSite at hand now, but if I remember it correctly, from Branch view, the right frame should show a table of Staging, Editions, and Workareas. On the right of the Editions link, should have a "new Editions" action link.

Yep - we need to put "New Edition" and "New Workarea" back under the File menu - my mistake. I think this is on the list for 6.1. The actions in the filelist should just be shortcuts to things that already exist in the menus. You may want to add these as custom menu items until we have that fix for you.

Note that we want to use the term "New Edition" as opposed to "Publish Edition." We want to reserve the "Publish" term for deployment.

"Publish" for deployment? Why? Publish to everyone who's ever used Teamsite means an edition. Why change and use the exact same word to mean something else? "Deploy" means deployment. If you want to use a new word for deployments, make it something different than a word we've all used to mean something else.

Deployment is a "nerd term" that works for the current users, because they've learned it. If we wanted our user base to be the same IT and full-time professionals we have now, them we'd just keep it.

We need to introduce "deployment" or publishing to business users if we want to allow the future use case of publish now, or at this specific time, etc for business users. Sure, we could use publish for CCStd and deploy for CCPro, but I'd rather be consistent across the UIs. Also, many of our competitors use the term publishing for "Go Live" or deployment.

But, they're your strings - you can do whatever you want at your site. I'm just trying to give a little background to the term change and why we did it.

While we are on interface suggestions, has any formula been followed for TS6 UI development. For example "for every view (screen) all possible actions will be displayed on the menu" I often find myself making mouse circles on the screen looking for somehting to click on. Don't get me wrong, I like icons better than menus but it is not always obvious what is clickable. I've already had a whinge about the workflow interface in the suggestions thread.
