Visual Preview toolbar could not find your index..

The following text displays when clicking a content area from CCSTD: "Visual Preview toolbar could not find your index page. Contact your system administrator to properly configure your Web Server."

The index page is "default.asp" and the page displays. If I use the browse method from the content portlet, I can open the page and Visual Preview works just fine.

The Teamsite 6.0 Installation guide says "Your Web server must be configured so when end-users navigate to a root workarea using
Visual Preview (formerly Smart Context Editing) the server forwards them to an index
page. For example, if you go to http://www.acme.com the server forwards the request to
http://www.acme.com/index.html.
This is an issue in the Content module, because if users click on a workarea name (as shown)
instead of the Browse... link, TeamSite navigates to the workarea in Visual Preview mode
and displays the index of the Web site."

There's no mention of what the configuration needs to look like though!!!!!!!!! ARRRRRGGGGHHHH.

Can you clarify what you are doing difference in these two statements?

Are you saying in the first scenario you are clicking on the workarea name and in the second scenario you are clicking on the file name (default.asp) in a directory listing?

When you click on a workarea name your webserver needs to be configured to go to an index page which it sounds like you've done. The second part is that you need to configure proxy such that it can follow your webserver's forward. This is covered in the install guide in chapter 3, section "Web Server Plug-ins and VisualPreview".

Yes, in the first scenario I am clicking a workarea name within the content portlet. The default page (default.asp) comes up and the visual preview toolbar displays the error message "Visual Preview toolbar could not find your index page..."

In the second scenario I click the browse link next to the workarea and then click the file name from the directory listing and everything works as it should.

I followed your suggestion and installed the redirector module as described in the Install guide, but I'm still experiencing the issue. I performed an IIS reset just in-case and that did not clear the problem either. Do I need to do and iwreset -ui?

yep, I had the same issue. To resolve it one could either configre the UI to point at Browse (just to replicate functionality) or fiddle with every workarea/branch to have index files

In our case apache is configured to give directory listing if the index is not found, so this created some issue on their own...

Running proxy in debug mode should give us an idea about what response is being sent. To run proxy in debug mode, stop the iwproxy service on Windows and from the command line run <iw-home>/bin/iwproxy -d

I think we should suggest that he run proxy in debug mode (-d flag) so we can make sure that IIS is sending the x-iw-ts-vpath response header. If not, something is wrong and iwproxy won't be able to map to the correct "index file" (default.asp in the case).

This is with regards to:CEC: Visual Preview toolbar could not find your index page.

I have verified that this is a bug in TS 6.0. The only accepted index page seems to be index.html no matter what the webserver index page is defined.

The bug number for our internal use - that you can refer to in the future is #50293.

Does anyone know of any further progress on bug #50293? We're running 6.1 on Windows 2000 Server SP4 and having the same problem.

It looks like this issue could have been solved, but mod_iw_ts_vpath.c has to be compiled on windows using apxs and unfortunatly my apache doesn't have that as an executable... so has anyone successfully compiled this module?

/web/view?page=/contentiw/pages/home

Where web is the context the webapp runs in.

When I click on my workarea in CCStd, to look at it virtualised, I get to the URL

http://HOST/iw-mount/default/main/Internetv2/WORKAREA/main/

With the page showing correctly, but the "The VisualPreview toolbar could not find your index page" message showing in VisualPreview".

When I navigate away from the homepage, and back to it again I end up at the URL

http://HOST/iw-mount/default/main/Internetv2/WORKAREA/main/webv2virtual/view?page=/contentiw/pages/home&onlineMode=oh

With the VisualPreview toolbar showing correctly.

Am I being stung by the same bug? Or do I need to try and make an iw-proxy rule to redirect

I was having the same issue. I had created a new virtual directory in each workarea and when navigating to files within this directory path, this error would display for the Visual Preview toolbar.

All I did to fix this is re-select the directory path of the virtual directory and save changes.
