Task transition cgi - link to verisign.com?
webby
All,
Trying to run some load and performance tests.
At the "Task Transition" cgi (when an Editor approves/rejects an authors work) clicking the "OK" button starts a link to rci.verisign.com.
The L&P tool wont allow this to avoid stressing external sites during the test process.
Can anyone tell me why this link is attempted and how to stop it?
Many thanks

I think you'll have to provide a LOT more background information before anyone can help you here. Although it is possible, I doubt that there is anything in the OOTB product that explicitly redirects to rci.verisign.com -- this is almost definitely something that has to do with a local customization.
What's an L&P tool?
Basic Info: What version of TeamSite (service pack, patches)? What platform?, etc...

Hi Fish,
Thank you for replying.
L&P - load and performance. We use QA Load to record a series of tests and then play them back to stress test our CMS application.
We're running TS 5.5.2 SP3 on Sollaris 8 on Sun E10000's.
QA Load stops the test from being recorded due to the attempted http link to verisign. The tool doesnt want to stress test verisigns webserver when we're trying to test our application.
The http link is apparently started when the user clicks the OK button on the transition task window,
The link occurs completely in the background and we had never noticed this behavior before these tests.
We were extremely surprised to find this.
Many thank for any pointers,
Cheers

I have tried a packet recording for task transition and not seen any single packet going out of the local network.
I also tried to do upload to make the verisign dialog come up asking the permission grant for the applet, that dialog didn't have any redirect packet going out either.
If you recorded the HTTP traffic, could you tell from the HTTP referer header field that who made the verisign request?

Through what port do you connect to your TeamSite UI? HTTP (80) or HTTPS (443)?
If the latter, perhaps that's the source of the problem ?

We were connecting to port 80 during this round of tests.
We've since moved to a PKI environment and will have to restart the test capture process.
I'll try and capture the session information permanently next time round.

Are you doing anything "unusual" in your CGI? (Ex. linking to resources outside of your site.) You could also try substituting a stripped-down, vanilla CGI program to see if the problem still exists.
