Inline Callout Environment Variables
awizardly
The following test.ipl works correctly in 5.5 but not in V6.
I have another script where I was trying to find the dct location during an inline, and use it to determinate an appropriate xml file to parse based on path information. This used to work in 5.5, but now does not in V6. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a workaround?
I wrote this test script to pull the 4 supported environment variables and dump them in a select for now. Again, this works on 5.5 but not on 6.
#!/opt/iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl
$user = $ENV{IW_USER};
$wa = $ENV{IW_WORKAREA};
$role = $ENV{IW_ROLE};
$dct = $ENV{IW_DCT};
print <<EOF;
<substitution>
<option value="$user" label="$user"/>
<option value="$wa" label="$wa"/>
<option value="$role" label="$role"/>
<option value="$dct" label="$dct"/>
</substitution>
EOF
The following is a snippet of the datacapture.cfg that is used to call this inline.
<item name="Test">
<select required="t">
<inline command="/opt/iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /opt/iw-home/local
/bin/test.ipl" />
</select>
</item>
Thanks. Will be posting this to support soon.

did you forget to put <?xml version="1.0" encoding='UTF-8'?> in your XML?

This is a known bug (47058) that should be fixed in the next release or service pack or whatever.

James,
what is the description of the bug, as all my inline callouts seem to work in TS 6

My DCT makes use of the IW_WORKAREA and IW_DCT environment variables to figure out in context where it is.
I use this to start looking at other DCR's for inclusion and on the fly compilation of component dcr's against their associated tpl's.
The test script that I included just tested that the environment variables that the manual says are passed do indeed work in V6. So if you use those variables, then you are kinda SOL. Otherwise things should still work fine

I have to just confirm what you are saying. my tests failed as well...
This is a serious issue, and has to be fixed by 6.1!

Hi Greg,
This bug (47058) has already been fixed and verified for both the 6.0 L release (this quarter) and for 6.1.
Thanks,
