How to select wft automatic?

When i submit a file to staging i went to activate a workflow base on file type .like this
*.html activate /default/a.wft
*.doc activate /default/b.wft
I know i must modify the available_templates.ipl ,But how can i get the file name in available_templates.ipl ?

Hi

I don't believe you can do what you require using available_templates.cfg. It only lets you base the workflow availability based upon command, role, user and branch -- not file.

You could instead have a single workflow which contains logic to examine the attached files and respond appropriately.

I am not sure , but try like this. I think it possible dir. level. I don't know wheather it possible with file level. Better try and let us know.

Filtering down to the directory level will work for jobs spawned by 'new_job' and 'submit', but *not* for jobs spawned for 'tt_data'. None of them will filter down to the filename level (you can make a feature request if you'd like...)

As Michael indicated - if you want to filter specific files into specific workflows you can do so *within* a "master" workflow.

We do that at my current customer's site - we have a Submit workflow which determines whether selected files are templated or non-templated and spawns a distinct workflow for each type of file (assuming there are any of that type to be processed). So the end result is we either end up with 1 templated workflow, 1 non-templated workflow, or 1 templated *and* 1 non-templated workflow. Works pretty nice IMO.

Of course this kind of dispatching is a little problematic. A workflow isn't necessarily going to be started with one file. Which workflow should be used if no files are attached? What if a job is started with an .html and a .doc?
