File edit

I have an issue that some of you may or may not have encountered. Platform TS 5.5.2 SP4 W2K

I imported a file into a WORKAREA. Made an edit, uploaded from launchpad into the WA but my edit is not being registered. If I make the edit directly on the server (i.e. map the Y:\ and browse to the file and edit), then the edit is registered. Any idea why launchpad is allowing me to upload, but TeamSite is showing "no edits"?

Stupid question alert: You are certain you saved you edits, correct ?

Check the launchapd window, is the file marked as updated (with a pencil) ? Can you view the launpad file ? You should be able to find it something like: c:\iwtemp\server\branch\workarea\dir\subdir\file

Is that where the editor saved ?

If those check out, we need to check the permissions of launchpad to save on the server.

Yes, I am certain that I saved the edits and uploaded back to TeamSite. I have double and triple checked everything.

What are your thoughts on the launchpad permissions issue?

I tested the process on another developer's workstation and there was no problems, obviously the problem is something with my workstation.

How are you trying to upload the chage ? From the launchpad popup ? Or with the upload menu item? I have noticed the upload menu item is not consistant so I never use that.

I am doing it from the applet window (i.e. NOT the Edit > Upload option in WebDesk Pro)

then it gets very strange, since if it were a permissions issue it should ahve failed on the other server.

The applet shows the file as modified when you click upload ? does anything happen (ask to keep or remove, etc) ? Any popup saying uploading ? Do you have popups turned off ?

You may want to turn debugging on the brownser to see if there are any complaints.

Is your browser application on your machine set to cache pages? Try using the TeamSite Refresh button to see if it's just a case of refreshing - if so, turn off the caching in your browser app.

After you modify the file and upload it with launchpad, check your Y: and see if your chages are there.
Just try to narrow down the problem and see if its a launchpad/uplaod issue or your TS interface browser cache.

When you say the edit is "not registered" do you mean that
the upload silently failed, but the file is unchanged on the
server? I would look at the java console in your browser
(which browser and JVM are you using, BTW?)
see if anything interesting is written there, and also check
the server log files. Sorry I can't be more specific...
