OD Logging Stopped
nico
Win2k latest Od
In the OD admin gui I'm no longer getting log results to show, deployments all work fine but no more logs in the gui. Ideas?
Is there a log constraint for OD?
Thanks,
Nico

Do you mean that you click the log button on the UI and nothing appears?
Was the OD base server or receiver restarted and the UI not refreshed? That might cause logs not to appear because the jobs listed in the UI are no longer present in the restarted OD's completion queue.

No when I click the Reports link in the OD admin gui none of the report options are showing my deployments since 12/17/03.
And yes, there have been several deployments since then.
Not sure if the services where restarted but will refresh the od ui and see what happens.

turns out OD comes with something called hypersonic database which is for demo purposes. but our iw consultant, neglected to leave documentation as to what was in place. Turns out this thing is pretty wimpy and you need to you need to put a real db in place for od to deal with logging as it can grow quickly. Great now I have to find the documentation in th od admin book as how the heck to do this. Unfortunately IW says its on pg 273 of the od admin guide, but it aint. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,

Anyone know how to back up the contents of the hyperdb that comes with od? I want to reset it for a short term fix.
Thanks,

Logging and reporting are two different things.
Reporting entails OD base servers and receivers publishing deployment events (when enabled to do so). The admin server includes an in process reporting server that can be configured to subscribe to those events and write them to a database. If either the publisher or subscriber fail for some reason, the database won't get updated.
Make sure you have the Nov 2003 edition of the OD 5.6 Admin Guide. Page 235 starts with the section "Reporting Server Database". Page 237 goes into detail about configuring your own database.

I'm trying to use Oracle Enterprise Edition 8.1.7.4 with it and have the following questions:
The structure of the database?
The size of the database and growth rate?
One or multiple owners within the database (schema owner)?
Does it require its own database instance or can it reside within a schema of an existing database?
Thanks,
Nico

The schema is documented in the OD manuals.
Size and growth rate is dependent upon your deployments (number of files, frequency, length of file paths, etc.)
I'm not a database expert, but I believe you need just one user to create/own the schema and then to connect to the database. You may want to work with the product docs and Tech Support to get your implementation going.
