Presentation template

Hi all,
I have a presentation template that generates an HTML file, having some dropdowns. Now I want to call / include this Presentation in to another presentation template2 , so that the html generated by the 2nd presenatation template includes its own content + the dropdowns generated by the first presentation template. Can anyone guide me regarding this. Thanks.

Have you looked into the iw_include tag?

Hi Paul , thanks for the suggestion. I did try the iw_iterate tag, although it can include the first template, but there are dropdowns in the first template + images . Using this tag, only the images are being shown in the second presentation templ. generated html, the drop downs are not getting displayed. The dropdown from the first template have values coming from the DCT of first presentation template. Thanks.

Hmmm... it's hard to tell what you are trying to achieve.

Could you provide a high-level description of the objective and a snippet (skeleton) of the core PT code?

A wild guess: would the iw_load_dcr tag help in your case? This is just a guess, based on your last msg.

hi paul.
I have a template1, which generates an html with dropdowns, the data in teh dropdowns is put in the DCT for this template. Now I have another Presentation template, which is having some content. I want the output (html) of first presentation template as header for the second presentation template html output. I used teh iw_iterate tag, where in I included the first tpl file, but the problem is that the drop down in the first templates, the contents of whcih are coming from the DCT dont get displayed using the iterate tag.

Maybe this would work for you -- say template MOM includes template BOB:

1) Use the iw_load_dcr tag in template BOB to load the DCR you want to iterate through. Here's an example copied from the PT help pages on the support site:


       <iw_load_dcr var='b' file='c.xml' mode='dcrlocal'/>
       <iw_iterate  var='z_node'  list='b.y.z'>
               ... loop through all z nodes in y[0]...
               value of current z: <iw_value name='z_node'/>
       </iw_iterate>

2) In template MOM, pass information to template BOB, such as which DCR it should process. Here's another example copied from the PT help pages on the support site:


  <iw_include pt   ='hello_nested.tpl'
              mode ='ptlocal'/>
    <![CDATA[
       $iw_param{color}    = "red";
       $iw_param{moo}      = "cow";
       $iw_param{headline} = iwpt_dcr_value('dcr.Headline');

It might help if we get some terminology straightend out here. The use of the word "template" by itself is vague since there are data capture templates (DCTs) and presentation templates (PTs) - I think you're referring mostly to the latter.
Also the DCT is the specification of the form to collect data, the DCR (data content record) is the result of having filled out the form, and it is the DCR (not the DCT) that is processed by the PT.

Having said all that - is the following an accurate description of your situation?
