open deploy not updatign file

A deployment we have been using for years did a strange thing on monday: in a filelist deployment of about 12 files, 3 files were not updated, although the timestamps appeared to be correct. we tried this 4 times and nothing happeend. All the rest of the files deployed successfully, but for some reason three would not update on our recieve servers until i updated the date stamp on teh source and redeploy. anyone else see such behavior? any thoughts how we can prevent this from happening again?

we are running open deploy on solaris and ts 552. thanks.

i've seen this when the files have been edited but not submitted.

i considered this but the deployment reads from a workarea not staging. furthermore, i modified the file in the workarea (added a space character) DID NOT submit it and redeployed and it successfully updated the file.

Ok

We discovered that the file had some escape characters in it which was causing the app server to not recompile the file. The question is, this has never happened before in our 3 years of using teamsite.

i did some looking on the web and found that sometimes a manual deployment to the web transfers in binary mode rather than ascii?

also i read something about a pretty_print_dcr setting which is currently missing from my iw.cfg file.

anyone have any insight? this is mighty frustrating...

The pretty_print_dcr would matter only if you are deploying the DCR itself. The files you are talking about are they DCRs ?
