Images disappearing in VisualFormatter

I have some images that I have inserted in the VisualFormatter. The images appear, preview is working, all seems well. However, if I go back into the DCR there is some odd behaviour. When I view the DCR at first, I can see the images in the VisualFormatter, but when I click on the VisualFormatter in order to edit the contents, the images disappear. In their place is just a empty box with the alt text appearing.

I am using TeamSite 6.0, IE 6.0, SP1, and Windows 2000.

Has anyone seen this before?
