<iw_include> being read

I am trying to create a file that just contains a bit of perl setting the value of one variable:

I want to include this file in my presentation template. However, it seems to be finding the file (I am not getting an error that says it can't find the include), but this value is not being made available. I even tried to just print the contents of the file onto my browser screen, and that failed. What am I doing wrong? Here is my presentation template:

Hi Doreen,

I hope I am not overcomplicating what I think is the solution here, and if I am wrong hopefully someone can correct me!

I think setting a value from an included PT to the enclosing PT is not very simple. Most of the doco at http://server/iw/help/tst/pt/TeamSite__PT__iw_include.html deals with passing a variable or value down to the included PT, not the other way round (which is what you would like to do I believe).

What I think you need to do to achieve this is:
- declare the variable in your enclosing PT
- pass by reference this variable to the included PT (I think you may need to actually have this variable in an array to pass by reference -- I could be very wrong on this though sorry)
- set the value for the variable in your included PT -- you will probably need to de-reference the array
- it should now also be set in your enclosing PT

If you understand all this then give it a go and let us know if it works
