DCR field data modification

Hi all,

I have a qiestion. What is the fastest way to modify hundreds of DCR's that come from the same DCT. I just need to Modify one field in all of them. I know that some XML parsing script could be used, or just a file parsing PERL script. Does anyone have this kind of script written? Or maybe is there a command line tool that does this kind of job?

I write these type of scripts all the time, here is an example:

Points, yes I am lazy & did not use my everywhere.

Agreed die is not appropriate for his app, I took code that I have that did 95 % of what he asked for. & yes I would take
that & wrap it in a loop.

I am feeling pretty cocky right now as those were the critques I am geting from Fish. Of course most of the code had been plagerized from Fish throughout the last year. :-)

The point about $changed = vs. $changed +=, it worked for me, though it may not have worked on all cases. I may have grabbed a bit of partially working code. Your change is better.

If the original poster wants code to walk a directory structure I posted a few ways to do it in the Perl forumn (called Perl -R implementation)

I use File::find now.

In case it wasn't clear:
Using '=' instead of '+=' will work if the last line of the file being processed matches your pattern - and actually if you're processing NOT-pretty DCRs - it's all in one line, so any match will work. However, the '+=' will work with both NOT-pretty *and* pretty'd DCRs because it's cumulative.
