Workflow question
GoldenState
I have a question about workflow in the following scenario:
The branch structure is a parent branch with several branches.
Manager will start a job, the manager knows the users, but does not know which branch and files the users will be working on. Users will see assigned tasks and figure out what files in what branch they will be working on and attach those files in their tasks.
Can TeamSite workflow do this? What is the best way to implement WF?
Thanks

Can you do it ? Yes with some work. Should you do it ? I don't see it buying you much.
The main task starts on /parent/, manager starts task & assigns users at the initial WF screen.
The user runs a cgi task to pick the branch to perform the work (/parent/child) and then starts a nested workflow to have that job instanciated with the new VPATH.
Most of the work is done in the nested job..

Another idea to kick around:
Take a look at some of the sample workflows that ship -- if the user is not stationed in a workarea at
job start time, they are prompted for branch/workarea info. These are not pretty, but give you a
shell to start with. Fancier UI features could be molded with javascript and whatnot.
The code in those .wft's check for branch and wa values and act accordingly. Not for the faint
of heart, but worth checking out.
