Cross publishing

Does anyone have any good ideas or examples of how to implement cross publishing of content between branches?
The issue at hand is publishing news, sharing these with internet anf intranet branch. The cross publishing has to handle edits and deletions, which is why we have to have the separate branches (and not just using deployments to different targets)
My first thought is extensive use of workflows and external tasks.
Any ideas?

Actually, it sounds to me like you might be better served by using different presentation templates within a workflow process - so that you use an internet PT for generating content that needs to get deployed to your internet site and an intranet PT for generating content that gets deployed to your intranet site. Assuming that a good portion (75%?) of the content is the same, you just have the DCT broken up so that the content contributor can put intranet-only information into intranet-only fields of the DCR that will only get rendered by intranet-only PTs.
As far as deployment goes (since this is the "Content Distribution" forum) - I think you'll just have either different deployment definitions within a single deployment configuration, or just two distinct deployment configuration files.
