Solaris 2.8 install

Hi All,
We are doing a new install of TeamSite on a Solaris 2.8 OS.
Is we have J2SE installed currently. The documentation states that JDK1.3 is necessary and all OS level patches.
Can someone help me out on this one?

Does anyone know how to find what version of Solaris you are using from a bash prompt (or any other method for that matter?)

That didn't give me the version of Solaris. I got:

SunOS 5.7 Generic_106541-08 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-60

Certainly it did.

SunOS 5.7 is Solaris 2.7

The build/batch information is 106541-08

All of the documentation states that you need JDK on Solaris, and the most interesting part that the install does not use it anyways.

What the point of having that requirement? no idea.
