The version of perl which ships with TeamSite 6.0.0L appears to be the same as that with 5.5.2. Therefore I would assume that the same issues will occur with Oracle DBI/DBD on 6 as on 5.5.2.

I couldn't find Oracle.pm anywhere on my TeamSite 6 installation -- which may be odd. Perhaps someone else could confirm the particulars of this?

I know that there are no backend differences between 5.5.2 and 6.0 so this somewhat confirms my fear about Oracle.pm. Can someone say for certain which version of Oracle the Oracle.pm module (packaged with iw-perl) supports?

Sorry about calling you Lucas!

Presuming that the version is the same as with 5.5.2 then it is version DBD Oracle 1.03. The doco I have found on this claims "DBD:racle is a Perl module which works with the DBI module to provide access to Oracle databases (both version 7 and 8)."

I am not completely sure that it supports all versions of 8 though...

Not at all a problem and thanks again for the additional info! Hey, the name thing kinda forces me to read a little more carefully!

Anyway, that makes a lot of sense which, unfortunately, precludes me from using iwperl with Oracle 9i -- I'll have to integrate it with our "regular" Perl instance, instead.

Does anyone know if Interwoven has a timeline for upgrading iwperl to 5.6 or 5.8? Have any focus groups said anything about this?

Since we use Perl in our TPL's to access Oracle 9i I don't think we'll be able to utiilze another Perl installation. If a newer Perl isn't an option, HTML::Mason and Perl's Template Toolkit look better. Perhaps we should drop the TPL's and go straight Perl?

Any suggestions?

What I have done is installed Perl 5.8 on the box and then use that interpreter when calling Oracle 9i. The TPL's (and anything else that's strictly iw-perl) include or refer to those Perl 5.8 scripts when access is needed.

It's not the best but it's a clean, easy solution.

racle ? It doesn't come with TeamSite - you have to download it from CPAN and build it.
