WIN2K Domain Local Groups - erratic problems

I'm experiencing problems with a workarea shared to a domain local group.

The domain local group, contains domain global groups from differing domains. (The result of a company merger)

I have domain_local_groups=yes set in iw.cfg

The access works intermittently, users can log on to teamsite with no problems,(regardless of the domain), but the point at which teamsite checks which workareas are availble, it sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't.

I have no idea where to begin checking, since it did work for a while.

I know that one of the domains has AD in NATIVE mode and the other in MIXED mode.

The fact that it did work, suggests architecturally we are sound, and none of the domain controllers have gone down when it stopped working.

Does Teamsite use some kinda time to live?

Please help.

Are all of the users experiencing these problems, or just users from one of the domains?

You may wish to review the TechLibrary paper on TeamSite and Active Directory. It notes that Native Mode is the preferred mode for TeamSite installations. I would be curious to know if it is only the users in the Mixed Mode domain who are experiencing problems. Maybe we can narrow down the problem from there.

Yes, it's only users from the Mixed mode domain who are having problems (that happens to be the company that purchased us).

I'll take a look at the TechLibrary paper, and also pass that on to the AD guys. Apparently they did some pretty extreme stuff to get the directories talking to one another.

I'm just frustrated that it seems to work correctly about once every hour, for about 10 mins.

Last time it worked at 12:20, then 1:20 -just waiting for 2:20

Hmmm. It seems that I was using a server group before, not a domain local group.

When I switched over to a domain local group, users of one domain the native one, can do all - usesr of the other domain can create directories but not files.

The trace log showed the folllowing two entries

USER: AMERICAS\opstest
GROUPGS: [ VANWAS03\TeamsiteAuthors AMERICAS\Users AMERICAS\Domain Users BO_R&D\Devnet_Read BO_R&D\SHAREWARE_READ ENTERPRISE\WEB-TeamsiteLocal ENTERPRISE\TeamsiteAuthors INTL\Americas INTL\Users ]

and

USER: AMERICAS\opstest
GROUPGS: [ AMERICAS\Users AMERICAS\Domain Users BO_R&D\Devnet_Read BO_R&D\SHAREWARE_READ INTL\Americas INTL\Users ]

which exaplins why sometimes the user gets access and sometimes not, unforunately the trace.log doesn't have any kinda time associated or action with it.
