replacing <symbol-table> in TS 6

Good morning,

We make extensive use of the <symbol-table> tag in conjunction with <itemref> includes to componentise our DCTs and avoid duplicating too much DCT code.
Also, we use <inline> commands to share symbols across DCTs

Now that the <symbol-table> is no longer supported (in TS 6) is there a simple way to replicate this functionality?

Does this also mean we can no longer generate datacapture.cfg's from DTD's?

If this true... a work around needs to be published. My understanding was that 5.5.2 DCT's would work with the 6.x templating engine.

The format of XML datacapture.cfgs has changed in TS6.0. As a result, <symbol-table> is no longer supported in TS6.0; instead there is a new DCT syntax which supports XML directly.
IWOV-style 5.5.2 DCTs (that is, dct's whose 'dcr-type' = IWOV) will continue to work without modification.

There is a command line tool which will generate datacapture.cfgs from DTDs into the new format. However, the new syntax should free users from the fragility of changes to the DTD, and indeed a DTD is no longer necessary to create XML DCTs. It should be possible to easily modify the new datacapture.cfg after creation, whether created by the CLT or by hand or dynamically generated.

I am looking at my DCTs and at the TS6 documentation and its looking like we are going to have quite a bit of work changing our DCTs to work on 6...

Is there anyone who can comment on this?
