How to generate sitemap using IW templating?
fyyap
Hi,
We are using INterwoven templating to generate all the pages. Can we automate the sitemap generation?
If anybody does this before, would appreciate if you can share with us. Thanks.

Hi,
You have a couple options:
1) If your directory structure/naming conventions prodive enough information to present as a sitemap (and they rarely do), then you could create a tpl that doesn't even need a DCR. The tpl could just do a directory crawl and come up with a simple site map page
2) If your pages are saved on the filesystem in such a way as to *not* mimic the conceptual sitemap, you might want to consider adding metadata to each of your site's pages (either in the DCR or as an extended attribute) that describes where the page should go in the sitemap.
Then you could write a similar tpl as described in step 1 that uses the meta data to categorize, group, and display the pages in a sitemap.
Then, just cron or schedule a nightly iwpt_compile command to re-run the tpl everynight to make sure you site map is up to date.

Hi TOM,
In the second option, how do we hyper link the generted HTML files from the site map? Are there a way in IW, to know the generated file from a known DCR.

Prasad.
