Uploading a binary file via DCT

Lex

I am attempting to use a cgi-callout on a DCT to allow users to upload files of any type. Eventually, through workflow, these files will be attached to the workflow and deployed out to a web site. To accomplish this I have written a small CGI perl script that builds an HTML form[1] allowing the user to browse their local files and select one to upload. That all works perfectly. This form posts to another CGI perl script[2] which reads the attached file and writes it out to a directory in a work area. The file gets there fine, it appears to be the correct size, but if the file is binary, it is slightly corrupted. For example, JPG files that can be opened (some give an error indicating a bad Huffman table definition), but the image is full of garbage. I can pick out some details from the original image, though, so it's being corrupted some how. PDF files are reported as damaged and Acrobat Reader "fixes" them, but the result is a PDF document with nothing but blank pages. Pure text files are absolutely perfect. There has to be some key piece of this puzzle regarding binary files that I'm failing to grasp. However, I'm primarily a .Net developer, so I pretty much know enough about perl to be dangerous. Here are some additional details regarding our TeamSite installation:

1) TS version 5.5.2 SP2
2) Running on Win2K server
3) I have tried the cgi-callout both with and without the iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi with the same results
4) Here is the item where the cgi-callout is occurring:

<item name="uploadFile2">
<text>
<cgi-callout url="/iw-bin/prompt.ipl" label="Upload" window-features="width=320, height=240, resizable=yes, toolbar=no, scrollbars=yes"/>
</text>
</item>

Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide.

Try adding the following and see if it fixes the problem:

  open(UPLOADFILE, ">$uploadDir$filename");
binmode(UPLOADFILE);
  binmode($uploadFileHandle));
  while(<$uploadFileHandle>)
  {
    print UPLOADFILE $_;
  }
  close UPLOADFILE;
