list modified files by user

Hi,
I have written a cgi script that traverses through the current workarea and displays the list of files modified by the current user only. The problem is its taking around 8 minutes to display the results. I am using TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

irwalk module to traverse the directory and iwattrib CLT to find out if the file was modified or not. Can anyone please suggest me a better way of doing the same so that the result is displayed more quickly(preferably within a minute as in the case of Teamsite)

I think the problem may be that the APIs that the default UI uses to show list modified are not exposed to your CGI process and there is no database backend to query directly. If you can find the right methods/objects in OpenAPI you might try rewriting your CGI as a JSP and using those. I can't remember if some other tool (iwlist?) provides a list of the modified files so instead of recursing you could just use that output. Otherwise I think you might be using the right approach and it just bogs. If you post your code someone might see a performance issue.

Have you played with iwlistmod at all? This in combination with iwattrib,etc may do what you want.
Check the TeamSite Commanline Tools manual (PDF) for details.


Usage: iwlistmod vpath
                vpath   path to workarea or directory.
       iwlistmod [-h | -v]
                -v      Show version.
                -h      Show usage.

Example usage:

Thanks for your replies guys.
I will look into OpenAPI. But I cant use iwlistmod CLT. because it doesnt dispaly the date a file was last modified and its size. I have to use iwattrib CLT for that.. If you guys know any other way please let me know..

Running iwlistmod once and then using stat() calls [to get last modified date and size information] from within a perl script should be far more efficient than running iwattrib on each and every file in the branch.

Thanks that helps a lot. Just one piece missing.. could you please tell me how to get the lastuser who modified the file? stat function seems to only give the uid of the owner of the file.
