Perl Log File

Quick question.

When creating a log file for a Perl script, what are the permisison implications. For instance, if a Perl script is kicked from a TeamSite trigger, and a log is created, what user is actually creating this log. I am running into some permission problems when trying to write to the log.

Is this Unix or Windows?
Are the permissions too restrictive or too generous?
Is it a question of ownership, group-ownership, or read/write/executable mode bits?

You can probably use built-in perl functions to adjust the settings of the file when it is created so as to make it the way you want. Things like umask(), chown(), chmod() all come to mind.

More details would help if the above doesn't point you in the right direction
