TeamSite 6.0 Customization

All,
I am consulting the documentation for customizing the TeamSite 6.0 GUI. I am able to expose a new custom menu item, but unsuccessful in restricting it to certain roles.

The UICG documentation uses one example, and it relates it to an operation id. Does it have to be operation id? What is the flexibility here? Anyone want to provide examples they may have used?

One can think of a menu item as one instance of an operation. For example, let's say you add an ability to spell check a file. You may want to expose this one operation in a few different menus in different parts of the UI. But you want to implement the same role-based limited access all of these menus, so you refer to the set of menus with a unique operation ID.

If you only have one menu item per operation, then this may seem like an unnecessary complication. However, it allows you to consolidate all of your role-based permissions in one place, separate from the UI configuration.
