external task hanging

Hi,
We have an external task that updates a workarea from STAGING. Everything works fine except that the task appears in the todo list forever even after the workarea is updated. Can any one help me out?

From your post I assume in the external task you are getting the content from the staging to the workarea and that you are calling an external file (perhaps an ipl). Looks like there is something wrong in the external file...have you done a callback. It would be better if you could attach the code.

I think either that CallBack back is not execute in your external script. Check to make sure task CallBack is invoked in your external script.

in addition to what the others said, try to do the ususal stuff - print debug info into a temp file, to see at what stage the task is hanging. It could as well be that you are not calling the task back properly - or could be something a bit more serious.
