Installing TS (domain vs local system account)?
yshalizi_va
Hello,
Has anyone ever setup TeamSite (TS) to run off a domain user account vs. the local system account (TS was installed using the BUILTIN\Administrator)?
Of course, the domain user will have administrative privileges on the TS server. Would this be sufficient? How would the TeamSite Impersonator account, TSIMP_<hostname>, be affected if the TS services ran as a domain user account instead of local system account?
Environment:
TeamSite 6.0/W2K
History:
We have installed TeamSite (TS) using the BUILTIN\Administrator account. We are using AD to manage user/group accounts information. Group ownership is set to local domain groups and local domain groups are populated with domain user accounts. For successfully authentication and authorization of users/groups, TeamSite requires read access to users' group membership information, which is located on the Domain Controllers (DC).
Since TS is running under a local system account, we need to delegate authority to TS so that it is able to read group membership information for the domains. If a domain user were used, the delegation of authority would be inherited since the domain user would already be authenticated to the domain.
Regards,
Yama Shalizi
