Maybe a better way to phrase it:

- If you install XP SP2 (not upgrade) you will not get the MSJVM

- If you upgrade to XP SP2 the upgrade will install it if you didn't
have it, and not remove it if you already have it.

No idea why the Microsoft Service Pack works like that..

I don't think that's what the article says though, at least it's not clear. The Microsoft docs are at least clear, even if they do seem to be monopolostic.
