TS6:CCS: Unlock?

I'm playing around with TS6 (6.0.0 build 25262 with patches 46268, 47071, and 50430 applied) on my W2K system and I notice a number of files showing up with an icon with a key in it - which I assume represents files that *I* have locked. I'm logged in as an Editor, in the CCS interface - I look under File Actions, I look under File Actions > Properties - no where do I see any option for unlocking these files.

Am I overlooking it somewhere or is it missing? If it's missing - is it intentional or an oversite?

I can easily perform this operation in CCP - I'm just curious why I cannot seem to do it in CCS.

Hi Fish,

Were you able to find a solution to adding unlock to CCS interface? I have been trying to experiment by adding the link reference from CCP with no luck:

Will I just have to create an unlock file cgi from scratch?? seems like there must be an easier way.

Hi Fish,

Through some trial and error I was able to port the CCP unlock function to the CCS UI using ui_custom.xml:

The interesting thing is the menu item appears greyed out unless it is displayed with a locked file, then it appears and can successful unlock the file.

In CCS, i believe the unlock has been replaced with "Undo Changes".

Wouldn't undo changes in some cases be too invasive an operation? Example: I edit a DCR and then have to pass it to a developer for further work. If I undo changes then my changes are lost, and all I wanted to do was to unlock the file so the developer could work on it too.

I may be wrong here.
But that would probably go through a workflow which would have the lock on the file.
I think the reason Interwoven did this was to enforce an edit, then submit. Thus, not confusing business users with other scenarios.
Again, somebody from IW can probably provide a better explanation.

Drew - you are correct. Undo changes will also revert the file contents to the previous version. In your use-case, you probably want to handle it using a workflow where you assign the developer a task to further edit the file.
